UNCF raised $2.3 million, thanks in part to Oprah’s generosity!
Celebrating 75 years of service to the nation, more than 1,000 guests adorned with fascinators and hats attended UNCF Charlotte‘s sold-out 17th annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon, raising a record-breaking $2,300,000 in support of education.
Fashion auteur and media personality Stacee Michelle interviews the legendary Oprah Winfrey on the red carpet at the UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon before her big announcement.
Global media leader, producer, actress and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey headlined the signature fundraising event presented by Wells Fargo and bestowed an unrivaled moment by matching live fundraising efforts to donate $1,149,000!
The annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball is a premier fundraising gala and a major social event, focusing on raising public awareness and large corporate and individual donations to support deserving students through UNCF. Hosted by UNCF Charlotte and a diverse group of corporate sponsors and local businesses, it involves celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, volunteers, public officials, alumni and others who support UNCF’s mission of investing in Better Futures® for us all by getting students to and through college.
In Charlotte, the Masked Award Honorees were: Grammy Award Winning Singer and Songwriter, Anthony Hamilton; Chief Policy Officer & Senior Advisor to the President and CEO of Lyft, Anthony Foxx; Partner, Ernst & Young, LLP, Curt W. Fochtmann; and VP, Chief Data & Executive Information Officer, Bank of America & UNCF Board Member, Laurie Readhead.
The Hamiltones provided entertainment for the evening and put on an amazing show!
It is always a pleasure being the official red carpet host at the Off The Field Players’ Wives Association Super Bowl Fashion Show! This year Super Bowl LIII, Patriots vs. Rams, was held in the beautiful city Atlanta, GA. A city known for fashion and luxury, the runway show highlighted nothing less! The event was held at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, with a pre-party celebration at Dior! I loved seeing the husbands support their wives as each year they raise funds for a non-profit organization in the Super Bowl host city. This year Girls Who Code was the beneficiary! Always a sell-out event, I can’t wait until next year! Enjoy the video!

Pronovias, Red lace bodice gown with sheer overlay and illusion sleeves. Dress, $960, Earrings, $280
The color red did not stop any of the Oscar beauties from looking their best! Ruth Negga, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Voila Davis were gorgeous in long sleeved and off-the- shoulder designs. This long sleeved sheer lace Pronovias dress was a perfect compliment to several gowns that graced the red carpet. I loved the way the dress was fitted through the bodice and then flared at the knee to showcase all of the beautiful mixed lace patterns.
Wearing gold is a definite way to shine on the red carpet, or at any gala event. Jessica Biel, Emma Stone and Charlize Theron looked stunning as they dripped in gold at the Oscars. When I saw the metallic Herve Leger dress at Nitsa’s, I knew it was one to highlight. I paired it with an embellished band turning it into a choker necklace for added glitz.
LOOK 3: THE WHITE
Pronovias, White mermaid gown with gemstone embroidery, $2,760 Earrings, $120, Snakeskin lace metallic clutch, $85
In addition to beautiful cocktail dresses, Nitsa’s is known for their amazing wedding gowns. Several of which mimic that of Oscar 2017’s best dressed looks. I was immediately drawn to this Pronovias gown with its sleek design and embellished gemstone back detail. White, Cream, Accrue, Eggshell, whatever you want to call it, this color was popular on the red carpet in all shades.
