A New Way to ‘Go Green’ in 2011!

Hunter Green Scarf

So you’ve already swapped plastic grocery bags for organic-cotton totes, bought a Prius Hybrid, and accepted those free energy-saving light bulbs from Duke Energy — So what’s next on your environmentally conscious list? Well, unfortunately I’m not hear to give you another energy-saving tip – but I will save you some energy in finding the right color to be on trend this Fall! You’ve opted for alternatives in other areas of your life, now let’s try changing the hue… by ‘Going Green’!

Green isn’t always the first choice for most, but designers this season have brought light to the color by showcasing multiple variations; giving us plenty of room to dive right into the trend. Spotted in an array of shades, textures, patterns, fabrics and numerous silhouettes; this color made its way onto everything from tops, outerwear, bottoms, dresses, accessories, and shoes. Whether color blocked or just a splash, there will be no excuse to why you shouldn’t be able to work green into your wardrobe.

For those of us who are ready to begin adding green to our color palette a little early for spring, don’t hesitate because you’re not jumping the gun! Socialites, editors, and trendsetters from New York to Milan have already been styling the streets in green! See how they incorporated it into their outfits:

Normally three shades of green is too much for one outfit, but not for one season! Fall 2011 is certainly green-friendly and offering us a variety of options adding the perfect complement to our welcoming wardrobes.  So head to the mall, Save some energy, and GO GREEN!

Remember no matter what you ‘hue’…. you are greatness already happening!

It’s Survival of the Fittest | Inside Fashion Week Moguls

Sylvana Ward – Vogue Director of Special Events

When doing my daily review of “What’s happening in fashion”, I was ever so amused by a photo feature on Vogue.com. It was posted at the beginning of NY Fashion Week, capturing the ‘Fashion Week Essentials’ needed for the grueling schedules of editors, stylists, models, designers and more. Once Vogue and The Coveteur (a new website) got the list of fashion key players, they asked them to assemble their essentials for a portrait shot by Jake Rosenberg.

By linking up with The Coveteur, Vogue was able to really showcase some ‘enviable and informative’ photos!

Check them out!

15yr. Old Model Walks the Runway | DVF Apologizes

15yr old Hailey Clauson

Does age really matter when it comes to fashion?

The CFDA releases a list of guidelines designers are encouraged to follow in an effort to make the most healthy model selections for runway.

Diane Von Furstenburg, CFDA president, discovered that one of her girls (Hailey Clauson) had slipped through the cracks and was under the age of 16. Realizing the mishap, she wrote a letter to her fellow colleagues apologizing for mistakenly stepping outside the CFDA guidelines:

…”I was horrified and terribly embarrassed. From now on I will instruct my casting people to demand IDs. I encourage you to do the same.” …

15 yr old Hailey Clauson has graced the runway for numerous designers since her debut at NY Fashion Week in Sept 2010. That season she ended up walking for ADAM, Z Spoke by Zac Posen, and Calvin Klein shows and went on to walk for Gucci, Versace, Christian Dior, Lanvin, Hermès, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton. She is currently a face of Gucci and DSquared2 (nymag.com).

With the immense use of Hailey Causon it’s apparent that designers are more concerned with the “look” than the actual age of the model.

What are your thoughts? Do you think an age limit should be enforced for runway models?

Whether your 15 or 51.. you are greatness already happening!

Look forward to your comments!
