Fashion Week has strutted its way through New York, London, Milan and Paris – making a statement at every stop! This year, the runways definitely seemed to bear theirbreast best! Plunging necklines, laser cuts, splits, lace and sheer details seemed to be prevalent amongst many of the designers collections this season! Christian Diorjust announced today that John Galliano has been fired from the company; effective immediately!
On Monday, Galliano was caught on video slurring racist and anti-Semitic remarks at a Paris cafe. CEO of Christian Dior, Sidney Toledano, stated that “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.”
Verbal assault charges were filed and sent to Paris Police. Whether or not the prosecuting office deems his actions worthy of charges could take weeks or even months!
He is certainly an innovator and fashion mogul – I don’t believe this rant will result in a loss of respect for his art, however, there is no excuse for the degradation of others. Guess we’ll be waiting for the apology video next; hopefully this one will be prejudice free!
