Vogue UK and top Supermodels helped Fashion win the ultimate medal of honor at the 2012 London Olympic closing ceremony. Models were adorned in gold pieces created by some of Britain’s design visionaries – Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Jonathan Saunders and Paul Smith to name a few.
Calling the spread “The Midas Touch”,Nick Night (Photographer) and Lucinda Chambers (Fashion Director) did a phenomenal job showcasing the beauty of fashion – and the beauty of GOLD! Oversized posters of the photographs (featured in the September issue of Vogue UK) dropped to reveal live models wearing these golden creations.
The finale: A catwalk down the stage to the sounds of David Bowie “Fashion”; ending in a pose with fortitude, facing the crowd as if they had championed the Olympics with their winning outfits!
Yesterday marked the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London – a true honor for athletes across the world who have dedicated long hours and fought through blood, sweat, and tears to make standing in the Olympic Stadium possible. Though the attention may be turning to sports, fashion never seems to take a back seat! Vogue Magazine, did a cover shoot recognizing USA Olympic players in a unique fashion spread. However, this was no ESPN spread highlighting athletic brands like Nike, Jordan, and K-swiss – oh no! Vogue infused a little Bottega Venetta, Atelier Versace, Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta and other couture fashion designs into the mix! Confused on how they made this work? Just see below how photographer Annie Leibovitz worked her magic… (she deserves a gold medal for this one!) Enjoy –>

After months of flat-out denying her and her team were involved with the wedding at all Sarah Bruton’s design for Alexander McQueen was revealed this morning and stunned everyone! It’s classic look and elegance allowed Kate to grace effortlessly from the carriage to the palace.
Here are a few comments from Sarah Bruton:
“Alexander McQueen’s designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day. The last few months have been very exciting and an incredible experience for my team and I as we have worked closely with Catherine to create this dress under conditions of the strictest secrecy.”
Not only was it an amazing gown, but the atmosphere and attendees looked flawless as well! Unique hats and bright colors were the statement at this wedding of the year! Check out some photos!
Some people I know cried because it was so beautiful… *awww* just like the fairy tales!
